New Albany Field Hockey

High School Team (JV/Varsity)
Participation is open to New Albany High School girls (grades 9-12) and all players must adhere to the NAHS athletics requirements. New Albany Varsity Field Hockey is an official school sport as of Fall 2012. For more information, please visit the High School athletics website here

Middle School Field Hockey (First Practice will be Tuesday, August 1st)
Head Coach: Shami Madzivire
Shami has played field hockey since she was 7 years old. She has had the opportunity to play with the University of Vermont club  team and U18 Zimbabwe Women's National Team. Her passion for the sport has led her to coaching, where she can bring the game to young people and spread the enjoyment she has gained from the sport.

The Middle School team is open to boys and girls in grades 6-8. No previous experience is required. The team is open to non-residents, provided space is available. The season begins in early August and ends mid-October. Practices and home games will be held at Bevelhymer Park in the Yellow Zone. Games will be played against other school and club teams from the surrounding area. Players must provide their own transportation to away games. Players should expect to practice/play at least 3 times per week.

Cost and Registration: Deadline is August 10th
Online Registration: The registration fee is $225 and done through this website. A $50 non-resident fee applies to players living outside the New Albany-Plain Local School District. Registration is on a first come basis and preference will be given to NAPLS District residents if space becomes an issue.

Forms can be downloaded from this website and turned in at the first practice.

Required Equipment
  • Mouth guard, shin guards, cleats, black kilt, and googles.
  • Goggles must one of two acceptable styles. These styles are polycarbonate lens or wire frame and both must meet the ASTM F2713-09 standard. When selecting goggles , note that field hockey and lacrosse goggles are different so verify that your goggles meet the aforementioned standards.
