The basics of youth soccer

Who Is Eligible
Youth soccer is open to boys and girls ages 4 and up. The New Albany Youth Soccer League (NAYSL) accommodates recreational players ages 4-grade 5.

How to Register
Online Registration is open June 1 – July 26, 2010. After July 26, all inquiries will be waitlisted and charged a late fee of $25. Fee for PK – 4 year olds (must be 4 by 9/01/10) is $35 (no jersey fee). Fee for children in grades K–5 is $55 with jersey fee of $20. Families who register three or more children will only be charged for the two oldest children. Add $50 per child if residence is not in the New Albany-Plain Local School District.

Where to Play
Games take place at Bevelhymer Park. (All field layouts can be found on the Bevelhymer Park web page)
PK: Orange zone fields 2, 3, 4, 5
K: Red zone fields 3, 6 & Green zone fields 6, 7, 8
Grade 1: Red zone fields 3, 6 & Green zone fields 6, 7, 8
Grades 2/3: Orange zone fields 8 & 9, and Red Zone field 5
Grades 4/5: Orange zone field 1 & Red zone fields 2

Equipment Required
Soccer cleat (no metal) or tennis shoes. Cleats are preferred for kindergarten and up
Shin guards are mandatory
Any color shorts; most people choose black
Long athletic tube socks are mandatory
Water bottles labeled with name
Soccer ball labeled with name: size 3 for PK through K, size 4 for grade 1 divisions and up

Information Guide to NAYSL Soccer League
The NAYSL follows the bad weather policy of Ohio South Youth Soccer Association (OSYSA). The referee is responsible for determining whether a game will be played, delayed or canceled. The referees at the fields make this determination at game time. There is no telephone person or number to check on the status of the game before game time. Coaches and players need to show up for all scheduled games regardless of the weather. Remember, it’s the weather at the fields, not in your neighborhood that determines whether a game is played or not. Soccer is played in bad weather conditions, as long as the weather does not pose a danger.
